Women and men have been on strike for a few days in the capital of Madagascar, Antananarivo. These individuals are street vendors or merchants set up along the roadsides. Their reason: they refuse to leave their selling spots, which are disruptive to traffic flow and prohibited by law. Several protesters have expressed their displeasure with the mayor of Antananarivo, Harilala Ramanantsoa, who ordered their removal from their workplaces. They consider this situation to be "abusive."
