On January 29, a publication by the Network of Youth for Sustainable Development - Madagascar stirred social media by discussing the situation of Sakatia Island, located to the north of Madagascar. Over time, the situation seems to have escalated, particularly with accusations of land grabbing and the exclusion of its inhabitants, which have been shared by this network, part of the group of young people affiliated with CRAAD-OI (Research and Support Center for Development Alternatives - Indian Ocean). However, the Government quickly denied these accusations, calling them misinformation and mass manipulation. It clarified that the situation mainly concerns the preservation of the island’s biodiversity.
