Scientists in Madagascar often face a lack of resources to pursue their specialized research. A new research funding opportunity has just opened for Malagasy researchers. This initiative, aimed at combating poverty in the country, will span a period of seven years. Launched on April 28, 2025, the program is supported by the Deep Challenge Fund, which seeks to gather scientific data on the root causes of poverty in Madagascar in order to improve the country’s economic situation and fight extreme poverty.
