Between honoring ancestors, modernizing national symbols, and demonstrating military power, Madagascar's 65th anniversary of independence stood out as a celebration both commemorative and forward-looking. On June 26, 2025, the Kianja Barea Mahamasina was the setting for an exceptional ceremony marking 65 years of Madagascar's independence. This location is highly symbolic, as it was precisely in this stadium that the Republic's independence was proclaimed on June 26, 1960. This date also marks the founding of the Malagasy army, the “Foloalindahy,” whose role was solemnly praised by President Andry Rajoelina, Supreme Commander of the armed forces. Before a massive crowd, as every year, all law enforcement agencies present in Madagascar took part in an impressive military parade.
