One of the iconic baobabs in Madagascar’s Reniala Reserve has collapsed, struck by a disease whose cause remains unidentified to this day. On June 12, 2025, an appeal was launched to the global scientific community-phytopathologists, forest entomologists, and experts in tropical tree health or baobabs (Adansonia). Despite these efforts, the exact cause remains unknown, according to the Reniala Reserve’s management.
