Andry Rajoelina focuses on agriculture and renewable energy to strengthen Southern Africa’s autonomy. At the SADC Summit on August 17 at the Ivato International Conference Center, Madagascar’s President Andry Rajoelina assumed the rotating chairmanship of the Southern African Development Community (SADC). In his inaugural address at the 45th Summit, he placed his mandate under the banner of food self-sufficiency and energy transition, stressing the urgency of transforming agricultural systems and reducing the region’s dependence on fossil fuels and imports.
